Tools to help you accomplish your Someday Goal

Picture
Welcome!!!
Below are ALL of the resources mentioned in the book (and a few bonuses)!!

Everything is organized by challenge number.

#1 Someday Goal Visualization
Picture
Listen as Megan guides you through a visualization exercise to help you identify one of your Someday Goals.

What you need:
  1. A quiet space
  2. 4 to 10 minutes of uninterrupted time (the audio is only 4 min)
  3. Something to write with and write in
(do not listen to this recording while driving)
Download the audio here.

#13 What's your Personality Type
Part of the Discover. phase is helping you not only identify your Someday Goals, but also find out more about you! Assessments are a great way to do this.

Resources to Download:
  1. The personality assessment in the book (this assessment is not grounded in empircal research, but is effective)
  2. Quick overview of the 16 personality types

For a more complete analysis of your personality, I recommend taking the Myers-Briggs (MBTI) assessment.

If you are an assessment geek like me, you'll enjoy these type heads.

 #15 Strengths
There are several options for accessing the StrengthsFinder Assessment
  1. Buy the StrengthsFinder 2.0 book (comes with a free code) - $20.75
  2. Buy only a code to take the assessment (no book) - $24.99
  3. Educators option via StrengthsQuest (it's the same assessment as the others, it just comes with different resources) - $24.99

I am not directly affiliated with Gallup nor do I get any commission from them if you take their StrengthsFinder assessment. I just love discovering strengths and believe this assessment is key. I’m Gallup trained and use the knowledge I learned with them, as well as independent research, to develop and unleash my own superpowers daily!

#22 Dream Ladder
Picture
This activity helps you take your Someday Goal or big idea and break it down into manageable steps.

Watch below as Megan guides you through the Dream Ladder process.

#27 The One Thing Philosophy
This philosophy is based on the amazing book, The One Thing. One of the #1 takeaways for me from this book is what they call the focusing question. I found this question to be so important AND helpful, that I wanted to constantly be reminded of it until it became a habit.

The tool I use is IF (If this, then that) an app that creates recipes. Learn more at https://ifttt.com/

I use it to get weather updates, reminders, and it even saves a picture to Dropbox every time I'm tagged on Facebook. It does SO much more too.

#28 Power of Small Steps
When writing Discover. Act. Engage. I reached a personal record of 60 straights days of meditating. 10 days later I took this screen shot.
Picture
By the time I hit 70 straight days, I had spent over a year developing my mediation practice. In the first 6 months I was lucky to hit 7 or 10 day streaks. By the end of my first year I had only ever hit a 30 day streak once. But I didn't give up.

You've got to remember to throw grace in your face when you slip (and you will slip, we all do), dust yourself off, and get right back at it... one small step at a time.

#29 Tracking Habits
Everyone loves making progress. Here's a simple tool for tracking your progress as you build new habits.

Download the original from the book here.

Download new & improved versions:
  • Monthly version (this is what I'm using now)

#31 Gratitude
The Five Minute Journal is a tool I love it because it's quick, easy to use, and I love the inspirational quotes and weekly challenges.

#34 Saying "No" is Good
Some of my favorite articles on how to say no!
  • 8 Ways to Say No Without Ruining Your Reputation
  • How to Say No Gracefully
  • No more yes. It's either HELL YEAH! or no

#35 Book Recommendations
The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod

Daring Greatly by Brene Brown

Start Something That Matters by Blake Mycoskie

Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg

The One Thing by Gary Keller & Jay Papasan

#37 No More Multitasking
One of the single greatest Catalyst Moves EVER!!! The Pomodoro Technique. My business coach turned me on to it, and it's what I when writing Discover. Act. Engage. Basically you do a 25 minute sessions of very focused work with 5 minute breaks.

My favorite resources:
  • All things Pomodoro Technique - overview, history, and additional information
  • Moosti - Free easy to use timer (this is what I use daily to implement this technique)
  • What to do in your 5 minute break - article (working from home I love doing quick chores or exercises - anything not in my office or sitting)

#38 GTD - The Most Important 3 Letters to Your Productivity
First of many GTD resources. Since I travel a lot, and sometimes with very short notice, I use Evernote to create a packing list for each trip. I can use it from any device (computer, tablet, smartphone).
  • Here's my packing list template (with a few links to some of the tools I use)
Note you can adapt this template to fit your own needs, but I can't recommend using one enough!

#40 Productivity Tips & Tools
I'm a 100% tech geek. And I will tell you that I use a ton of tech apps and tools to stay productive, many of which I share in the book. By far the most important and impactful tool I use is a simple document I use to organize my week.  This sheet is what keeps me focused each day.  I do it old school and print it out and carry it with me everywhere.

#57 Connecting at Live Events
Do you get scared, nervous, or just all together strongly dislike social gatherings with new people? I've got a book for you. It's called The Fine Art of Small Talk by Debra Fine. It's action packed with tips, and I guarantee it will help you have more confidence for your next social event.

Now that you've enjoyed this book and started making progress on your own Someday Goals... It's time to share it with others!!
